Tea Time by Sheralyn Barnes

It's January.
That time of year when the winter doldrums set in.
So this week, as the grey skies were bringing me down,
and I was feeling a bit small,
I thought to myself how nothing beats the winter blues like
a hot cup of tea,
a friend,
and my imagination.

And then I pulled out this old friend again,
who despite appearances,
should be getting us closer to spring here soon.....

  1. Thank you for allowing us to share the tea party with Moose and Mouse (I bet they giggle about their names being so much alike!) and thank you for the glimpse into Mr. Groundhog's winter home -- but I don't think he's quite ready to get up yet.

    Wonderful illustrations, Sheralyn.

  5. Thanks you guys! I look forward to working with mouse and moose a bit more and build this into a painting. Moose is a stuffed animal that I bought for my grandma about 15 years ago when I was working in Yellowstone Park. When I was little I loved stuffed animals, so my grandma would always try to find "exotic" new stuffed animals for me on birthdays and Christmas. Back then, exotic was a squirrel or a fox, there wasn't quite the selection there is today! So I bought her this moose when I was in my twenties and sent it to her about a year before she passed away. My mom gave it back to me to remember her by afterward. My grandma had a great imagination and I think it's from her that I got my love for whiskered furry things in the first place, so I thought this was a lovely way to have tea with her memory.
